Peaceful Parenting
Peaceful Parenting, a program of Jewish Family Service, offers free parenting classes for parents with children age 0-5. The program is funded by The First 5 Commission of San Diego. The court approved parenting classes consist of six, two-hour weekly sessions.
Classes are based on the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) curriculum, taking a realistic approach to meeting the challenges of raising children today. The curriculum is designed to help parents relate more effectively to their children by exploring the developmental ages and stages, teaching effective communication techniques, and exploring alternative discipline techniques.
Free parenting classes are offered in both English and Spanish at various locations throughout the county (i.e. schools, churches, synagogues, community centers, head starts). Pre-registration is required for all classes. Peaceful Parenting staff members are also available to plan and organize a class for your specific host site at a time convenient for you.
