Health professionals and anyone interested in learning more about postpartum mood disorders are invited to attend a training. Featured speaker will be Shaila Misri, MD, FRCPC, one of the leading reproductive psychiatrists in North America and is internationally recognized as a pioneer in women's mental health and reproductive issues. She is the founder and director of Reproductive Mental Health at both St. Paul’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre in Vancouver, and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia, Canada.

The program will include a session on PPD among low-income moms. This session will be led by two UCSD doctors: Dr. Jessica Kingston, M.D., Assistant Clinical Professor, UCSD Department of Reproductive Medicine, Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology; and Dr. Katherine Hirst, M.D, Co-Chief Resident, UCSD Combined Family Medicine and Psychiatry Residency Program, Founder of UCSD Maternal Mental Health Clinic. Another session will discuss PPD in military families. A lunchtime panel of mothers and fathers will discuss their experiences with PPD.
