Postpartum Health Alliance is planning a training on postpartum mood disorders. This lecture is open to the public and will be informational to health-care professionals, including physicians, nurses and social workers. It will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, on the UC San Diego campus.
The featured speaker will be Shaila Misri, MD, FRCPC, one of the leading reproductive psychiatrists in North America. She is internationally recognized as a pioneer in women’s mental health and reproductive issues. She is the founder and director of Reproductive Mental Health at both St. Paul’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre in Vancouver, and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
The program will also include speakers on PPD among low-income moms and in military families. A lunchtime panel of mothers and fathers will discuss their experiences with PPD.
The cost is $80 for students and $100 for general admission. CMEs will be available for an additional $30.
